I was combing my hair when I received a call. It was the delivery lady, I bought the last 4 months issue of Liwayway magazine and it was to be delivered today. I answered it and was surprised to hear my own voice. I haven't talked to anyone for days now. I caught a bad cough and got a hoarse voice---that was few days ago. And that moment I found out, my voice is still hoarse.
I'm writing this in September 15, 2024, but today feels like a Sunday in July 2004. The angle which the sun hits the floor, the weather's temperature, and the songs playing in the radio was very much what it was back then. The stillness of the Sunday, as if God has asked everyone to shut it for the day so he can rest. I wonder what I was doing that day. I was probably at home (like always) reading or at the window, resting face on one hand, staring at nothingness. My bestfriend Alvie from childhood that I love doing that a lot back then. That maybe was the reason why windows are one of my important requirement when looking for a place. Windows are where I connect myself to the outside world without exactly going out.
I realized not very much changed for me in that aspect. I don't like going out, talking wears me out and I like my own company. I like to eat when I feel hungry, wash dishes right after or maybe later in the day without someone losing their cool. I realized I wasn't here because of the circumstances, I was here because this is where I should be. My life living alone is going to be fine.
