Friday night romance

All washed up and ready for bed in my pink cotton nightgown, I am sitting at my bedroom table facing the window. In the dark, the city lights dance afar. It is 11 o'clock, and I have just returned home from an art exhibit called Monet & Friends Alive at the Maybank Theatre. The presentation of Impressionist paintings combined with classical music has put my head in the clouds and left me high on whimsy. I just want to soak myself in art and music.

As I write this, "Isn't It Romantic" by Mel Tormé is playing softly from my jazz playlist, stirring romance into the quiet night. And that is exactly the wonderment in my mind: isn't it romantic? Friday nights are the perfect time to be romantic, don't you agree? I wish all nights were Friday nights—where no bedtime is imposed, where one can experience art or classical concerts and still return home at a decent hour to daydream by the window in a nightgown, listening to late-night jazz while drinking a glass of warm milk to their heart's content.
