Of finding my tribe and dreams coming true

Isn’t is just last few days back I said to myself that “I am ready to come out of my shell, I am not hiding anymore”? As I was typing this, I was compelled to check my journal and there it is: Thursday, 14th of June, two days ago. A resolute entry that I wrote in an eager handwriting. Today, I came home from an event that I think (and I hope) will change my life. Lakad and Latag with Good Food Community, a native tree identification walk guided by Joms, a member of the Philippines Native Tree Enthusiast. It was my first time to attend such event. My old self would just be content doing everything by myself; not wanting to be in a crowd and afraid to interact to people. But somehow there was a bigger pull: I should find my tribe!

“I couldn't live where there were no trees--something vital in me would starve.” ― Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne's House of Dreams

I can’t remember when did I exactly fall in love with trees. Was it when I was 5 years old where my sister and I played under the bangkal tree, using its young leaves as a doll? Or was it that time we play taguan on the lateral root of the old acacia tree so big it can hide 3 feet 5 inches tall children? Or was it the time we swing by the branch of a mango tree so big it started to lie to the ground? Ah, maybe the time when taking a glimpse of a particular tree everyday in the bus to work? But then, is there a need to answer this question? Loving a tree should be a natural feeling a mere earthlings like me would feel for a thing that gives its life.

When I signed up to be a member of PNTE after the tree walking event, it was a no-brainer decision. It was something I should do. I need to know more of the native tree to be able to help the ecosystem flourish. I also asked if I can volunteer to local farms. Joms was so kind to accepted my request to join whenever a need of volunteer arise. Farm volunteering and tress; I could not be more happier. I didn’t know that this only one event I could find an access to the things I always dream about of doing. I called on my angel and they hear me. It’s a divine timing.
