Literary Pursuits on a Rainy Saturday

It rained all day. In my opinion, it's only proper to rain on Saturdays. And when all of your house chores are done and there's nothing left to do but enjoy the bliss of a clean home, mug of hot chocolate in hand, listening to the tip-tap-tip-tap of the rain.

I have decluttered the major part of my possessions a few days ago and it's only right to also evaluate how I spent my time. So I have promised myself to not have mindless screen time. I've learned about these from listening to The Minimalist Podcast. One of the tips they gave to minimize screen time is to put your phone on a grayscale mode which I found to be really effective. Since then, the internet modem in my home are mostly unplugged unless I have to be online. I am now either spending my time reading books, ---I am currently reading Madame Bovary which I will post my reflection here after I finish the book--- cooking meals or tidying up my space.

So I sit there watching the rain drops and thinking what are the other things to do to occupy myself in my free time that does not include social media or watching a television series. I've been always wanted to write but never really make an effort to practice it. So why not use this free time to study my favorite topic of all time: literature.

This afternoon heavy rainfall, the coziness of my home, the solitude, these all gave me the idea to finally gather my courage and enroll to an online literature courses. Maybe someday I can also take a BA degree but right now I feel one step closer to my dream. Being a minimalist has really an advantage to mental state!
